History

Venture Farm Cat Rescue was originally set up in 1997 by Carol Lai with help from Rod Lea and John Brown.

At that time there were 150 animals on the site and whilst this figure does fluctuate due to re-homing, there remain over 100 animals still on the site at any one time.

Everyone that helps out here at Venture Farm both at the rescue centre and in the shop are all volunteers. We have no paid members of staff and the Trustees are not paid either.

Our main aim is to rehome as many of our cats as possible. We usually have over 60 cats in need of loving homes.

Adopting one of our cats

We always have lots of cats hoping for the chance of a kind and caring new home. If you are looking to adopt a cat, please come along to the rescue centre and we will introduce you to those cats which we think would be suitable.

If you decide one of the cats is for you, we will carry out a home check and then arrange for you to collect the cat at a pre-arranged time. We ask for updates and photos to check and make sure that the cat/s are settling in ok. Please remember, we are only a telephone call away with any queries or issues.

Although we do not have a fixed fee for adoption donations, we do ask for a donation of:-.

Kittens in pairs only – £250-£300 for the pair

Junior (0 – 7yrs) £100
Adult (8 – 10 years) £90
Senior (10+ years) £70

Our costs are constantly rising so we ask you be as generous as possible! All cats are vaccinated, microchipped and neutered/spayed.

Taking on a new pet is a big commitment, and any new owners should ensure they are able to provide financially for their pets future and to provide a settled, caring and loving home.

Ways to help

CASH DONATIONS Always welcome. We now have a Justgiving page where you can make donations online. We also have a Paypal account – venturefarm@virginmedia.com.

EASYFUNDRAISING You can register with easyfundraising.org – https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/venturefarm/ and then every time you shop online you can raise funds for your chosen charity. So with Christmas on the way, if you are thinking of making purchases on line (e.g. with Amazon), then please go via the easyfundraising website. It doesn’t cost you anything, but will help raise funds for Venture Farm. So please select Venture Farm Cat Rescue!

FUNDRAISING EVENTS Could you hold a coffee morning or other event to raise funds for the cats?

CAT FOOD As you can imagine we use a lot of cat food – with over 100 cats to feed the food bill is huge. So any help would be greatly received!

SPONSORSHIP We have several cats resident at the farm who for various reasons are not available for re-homing, or who may take longer to re-home due to special needs. We have a sponsorship scheme available for these cats. Please ask for details.

MONTHLY STANDING ORDER If you feel able to contribute a regular monthly amount, please telephone to request a Standing Order Form. Any amount, no matter how small, would be greatly appreciated.

AMAZON WISHLIST We have an Amazon wishlist, please take a look.

DONATIONS We are always grateful for donation of items which can be resold in our Dereham shop. Please spread the word to your family and friends!

VOLUNTEERS Always welcome. We are always looking for people to help with animal care, maintenance, gardening, working in the shop or helping with fund raising. If you feel able to offer assistance with any of these, please phone or call in at the farm.

GIFTS IN WILL By leaving a gift in your will you can help change the lives of thousands of cats and kittens for years to come. Without the kindness of people who remember Venture Farm in their wills we would not be the charity we are today.

If you need help or advice on any of the ways to help, please do get in touch

Thank you.
